Aimee and Kenton had planned on having a big wedding but at the last minute, they decided that they wanted something a bit more intimate…and this is how I came into their lives! This wedding was destined to happen on this day. Aimee said that even though she changed her date and chose a Saturday in August, every vendor that she wanted was miraculously available #MeantToBe. This day was completely full to the brim with love. The second I walked into their house I was hugged by everyone and treated like family. I kept telling Aimee and Kenton that I wished every wedding could be like theirs!
If you like dogs, this wedding is definitely for you!
How They Met
We met through my brother. He went to high school and college with my brother Jeremy. I started hanging around with them and we started talking the whole night every time there was a get-together. He finally asked me out after asking Jeremy if it was okay. About a week later Jeremy decided to change his mind and that it was a horrible idea for us to date. Long story short…he got over it. We’re all super close now! And I’d say it worked out pretty well…
How He Asked
He proposed by taking me down to the river by the Devon bridge and asked me there. At first, we were at his house in Edmonton and he wanted to go for a walk in the river valley and do it there, but I was being a brat and didn’t want to go for a walk. We decided to go out to my parent’s acreage and hang out with them, but instead of turning off to their house, he drove past and went straight to the river valley. When he got down on his knee he said “well this isn’t the part of the river where I wanted to do this but…” and then went on. I bawled my eyes out and obviously said yes!
Their Favourite Part of The Wedding Day
Aimee: My favourite part of the wedding day was the first look. We were both so anxious and excited at the same time. Finally getting to see him made all my stress go away.
Kenton: Right after the ceremony when it started sinking in that we were actually married and we were just hanging out with everybody.
Our advice would be to forget about all of the wedding stigmas about having a ton of people there and spending a ton of money. What is most important is the two of you tying the knot. Don’t try to make everybody else happy and focus on what you want because it is your day! We had a small intimate ceremony and it was the best thing ever. Our other family and friends were so understanding and still so happy for us. Oh, also get Becky to be your photographer. That is a given! Oh ya, feed the groom before photos! 😉
