Shannel and Steve…it’s hard to know where to start with these two amazing humans. They’re incredible individuals, and together…they might just rule the world. This one is special for me. I met these two on my first camping trip with my wife-to-be, Sarah. I was slightly intimidated to be surrounded by all of her friends, none of whom I’d met yet. Cut to Shannel and Steve…they welcomed me with open arms and hearts and by the end of that weekend (and some conversations over sharing a beer bong, and a few games of beer pong) I knew that I had met two people that would be in my life for years to come.
Shannel and Steve were a few of the first people to trust me; with no reservations or hesitation. And with that confidence, their insanely good looks and beautiful love for each other, we made some magic happen. After an engagement session and a (super spicy) boudoir shoot, I had the honour of capturing their magical wedding day.
I honestly, don’t have the words to describe how sweet and thoughtful these two are. They made every single person involved in their life feel special. From personalized gifts to their bridesmaids/groomsman, to their parents and every vendor who worked for them. Now a little bit about the happy couple…
How Did You Two Meet?
We met in Waipourous, AB during a camping trip for our friend Mel in 2007. We were good friends for years before the timing was right to finally start dating in 2013.
How Did He Propose?
It was magical. In April 2016 we travelled to Europe. The second country we visited was France. On our second day in Paris, we walked to the Eiffel Tower. Along the way we stopped for lattes and baguettes, soaking in all of the culture. Love was in the air! Once we arrived at the Eiffel Tower we were blown away by its presence! We were taking selfies and all of a sudden Steven threw his GoPro on the ground and dropped to one knee; he expressed his love and asked to spend the rest of our days together. Completely off guard, the only words that Shannel could mutter were “of course!” We were surrounded by a fairly large crowd of cheering strangers. We took the lift to the top of the Eiffel Tower and celebrated with some bubbly!
What Was The Best Part of Your Wedding Day?
Steven: Shannel walking down the aisle, and marrying her.
Shannel: Exchanging our vows and our spiritual ceremony. Also, I really loved how everything came together. Looking at our friends and family at dinner enjoying themselves amongst the decor and details that we worked so long and hard for. Finally celebrating that moment and being able to say “we did it!”
